Having seen the original, I'm not entirely sure what to make of the remake. Vera Farmiga's character, a perfume expert, is a miscast, and her scenes delve into Halston's past - a wasted opportunity for bizarre character building. There's a scene with Liza Minnelli and Victor Hugo snorting cocaine, but it's a bit timid, and like Wolf of Wall Street, the film's hedonism is somewhat tame and timid.
